About Us:

Three J Electric provide contractors, homeowners, and business customers with a range of quality services done right and efficiently.  With two locations in East Jordan and Harbor Springs, Dan and Jacob believe they better serve the entire northern Michigan region.  As a matter of fact, Three J Electric has done work as far North as Trout Lake, as far South as Plymouth, as far East as Cedarville and as far West as the whole Lake Michigan shoreline.

Three J Electric’s motto “We Can Do That” is the prime mission of the company.  Three J Electric perform all types of electrical work from minor residential repairs to installing 3-phase electrical systems.  Beside general electrical work, we are experts in installing hot tubs.  Most all hot tub brokers in the area recommend us to their customers.  We also excel in installing propane and gas generators, stereo systems, bathroom floor heating systems, trenching in power to out buildings and driveway lights and many commercial and industrial applications.

When it comes to price we rarely get beat.  In fact, we often hear that we’re thousands of dollars cheaper than other electrical contractors that we bid against.  How is it that we are so efficient and cost less?  Well, three of the five of us that work in the field are owners (Jacob’s wife works for us), and therefore, we work hard and find the best and cheapest way to do things.

Dan Burk  - I moved here in 1993 from Cincinnati, Ohio where I was a controller at a Savings and Loan.  I received my degree in business from across the Ohio River, from Northern Kentucky University.  I was tired of driving up to Northern Michigan all the time to vacation, so I gave up the money to be made in Cincinnati, to move north and really enjoy life and all the wonderful things that Northern Michigan has to offer.  Up here I met my wife, Leslie, and we have an incredible daughter, Summer.  We love to enjoy all the great things that surround us here in Harbor Springs.  We are very involved in the Harbor Springs Community, such as church, schools and a variety of business and non-profit organizations.  We enjoy all 4 seasons and make time to mountain bike, camp, boat, ski, snowmobile, snowshoe, hunt, fish, atv, scuba dive and much more.

Jacob Johnston – Jennifer and I moved back to East Jordan from Georgia in 1992.  We were only gone a year before, deciding Northern Michigan was the only place we wanted to call home.  Our son Joshua, the third “J”, was born in July of 1994.  In August, I began my electrical career as an industrial electrician at East Jordan Iron Works.  After 4 years of shift work, I decided to try broadening my scope of electrical knowledge by joining the residential and commercial team at Birchwood Electric in Harbor Springs.  I received my masters and contractor licenses in 2000.  It was at Birchwood that Dan and I thought we might just be able to combine our skills and create a successful partnership.  We hit the ground running and have never looked back.  In 2004, Jennifer joined the team as a full-time electrician and has since earned her journeymens license.  Our family loves living, working and playing in Northern Michigan.  We are privileged and proud to call it home.
